Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex - Tsonjin Boldog

The statue is considered the world's largest equestrian statue in the world. The 40 meters massive monument was constructed in honor of Chinggis Khaan in 2008. Built with US$4.1 million private funds from stainless steel in the place associated with the legend where Chinggis Khaan found a whip on his journey.

 

The statue is symbolically pointed east towards his birthplace. It was constructed with 36 columns representing the 36 Kings (Khaans) from Chinggis Khaan to Ligden Khaan. It has a lift (elevator) rising up its tail and steps to the horse’s head to enjoy a panoramic view from here. The base also hosts impressive and interesting museum which often change the themes and artefacts. There you can also watch a short film describes how the monument was built. Mongolian boot with nine meters high, six meters long and two meters wide is the one of the attractions of the complex. This was made of 225 pieces of cowhide, 4500 meters of rope, 120 square meters of felt, 72 square meters of synthetic, 13 cubic meters of wood, 300 liters of glue, and 180 square meters of tarpaulin were used to create the world's largest Mongolian shoes. A café, a restaurant, and souvenir shops can be found also inside the statue.  

It is located 54 km (33.55 mi) east of Ulaanbaatar.
