Dalanzadgad

In 1931, the Dalanzadgad city was first established on the hills of the Dalanbulag river with more than 30 homes. Currently, Dalanzadgad is becoming the development center of Umnugovi province, which is the country’s fast expanding province due to the development and construction based on the mining industry. Dalanzadgad has an area of 47.6 thousand hectares. It is located at an average height of 1300-1600 meters above sea level and 580 km away from Ulaanbaatar.

Umnugovi has several large mines nearby including Oyu Tolgoi (Turquoise Hill).  Oyu Tolgoi is a copper-gold mine in the Umnugovi aimag of Mongolia, approximately 550 kilometres south of the capital Ulaanbaatar. It holds one of the largest high-grade copper deposits in the world.

Dalanzadgad Airport

The airport serves workers at several large mining companies nearby and generally uses larger planes than other domestic flights in Mongolia. The paved runway is the 2nd longest in Mongolia after Chinggis Khaan International Airport. Banks, ATMs, big supermarkets, and state services are available here. As for accommodation, there are some good hotels and ger camps in Dalanzadgad town.
